Brief meeting summary

Thank you to all of you who were able to attend the meeting tonight, it was well attended and allowed us to get our message out to the community as a whole and hopefully to understand that we all support strong solutions, with some time (too short) to discuss specifics of solutions and more detailed spcific planning for the group. This and a more detailed accounting will follow on the blog...for those of you not able to be there tonight we hope to see you at the next meeting.

We are considering June 11, please let me know your thoughts about this date.

We discussed the Community Commitment Survey, also attached. While how to approach this at this point was vigorously discussed, a majority were willing to undertake it. The community commitment survey was discussed and distributed in person and via email. While it is more of a convenience sample than a true survey the purpose is multifaceted:

  • To encourage discussion about what a comprehensive solution entails
  • To identify "yes" voters
  • To help identify commitment or resistance to specific solutions
  • To discuss GuilfordPACT and recruit members and contributions.

We will be working on a "pamphlet" and toolkit for those out there talking to people. This is a short term survey to be returned prior to or at the next meeting and will help to guide our discussions at the second meeting. The second meeting will be the chance to really get down to business about our interface with the process of working with the boards towards a strong solution. I also hope there will be some discussion of this on the forum in the meantime.

For those of you who were not there, and for those did not fill out a form, the meeting form has been emailed. For those of you who want to be involved with this organization we hope you can take the time to fill this out and return. Committee work is particularly important. Please email back to me or send/ drop off to 151 Whitfield or P.O. Box 385.

I encourage everyone to write BOE members personally about the overall need for solutions and specific solutions that you may individually support.

Thanks to everyone for their input and work on this, please post any comments on the blog,

Chris
